Risk Disclosure

Trading futures, forex, stocks and other leveraged financial instruments carries substantial risk of loss and is not suitable for every investor. Please read this disclosure carefully before using any information on COT-Reports.com.

1. No investment advice

Nothing on COT-Reports.com is, or should be construed as, personalized investment advice, a recommendation to buy or sell any instrument, or a solicitation of any transaction. We publish data and analytical tools for informational purposes only. We are not registered investment advisers, broker-dealers or Commodity Trading Advisors (CTAs) in any jurisdiction.

2. Futures Risk Disclosure

Futures, foreign currency and options trading contains substantial risk and is not for every investor. An investor could potentially lose all or more of their initial investment. Risk capital is money that can be lost without jeopardizing one's financial security or lifestyle. Only risk capital should be used for trading and only those with sufficient risk capital should consider trading.

3. Hypothetical Performance Disclosure (CFTC Rule 4.41)

Hypothetical or simulated performance results have certain limitations. Unlike an actual performance record, simulated results do not represent actual trading. Also, since the trades have not been executed, the results may have under- or over-compensated for the impact, if any, of certain market factors, such as lack of liquidity. Simulated trading programs in general are also subject to the fact that they are designed with the benefit of hindsight. No representation is being made that any account will or is likely to achieve profit or losses similar to those shown.

4. Data accuracy

The data on COT-Reports.com is sourced from official government agencies and is subject to their publishing cadence, revisions and occasional delays. While we aim for accuracy, we do not guarantee that every number is error-free, complete or up to date at the moment you read it. Always cross-check important values against the original source (cftc.gov, bls.gov, fred.stlouisfed.org, etc.) before using them for any trading decision.

5. Past performance is not indicative of future results

Historical positioning, price action and statistical patterns shown on COT-Reports.com describe what has happened in the past. They do not predict what will happen next. Any pattern you identify may cease to work without warning, and any edge you believe you have observed can disappear as market conditions change.

6. Testimonial Disclosure

Testimonials appearing on this website may not be representative of other clients or customers and are not a guarantee of future performance or success. Any awards, recognitions or reviews displayed on COT-Reports.com reflect the opinion of the granting party at a specific point in time and do not imply any endorsement of trading strategies or investment decisions.

7. Jurisdiction

The information on COT-Reports.com is not directed at residents of any country or jurisdiction where its distribution or use would be contrary to local law or regulation. It is the visitor's responsibility to ensure that accessing and using this content complies with the laws applicable in their jurisdiction. Persons who choose to access the site from other jurisdictions do so on their own initiative.

8. Not investment research

Content published on COT-Reports.com is for general informational and educational purposes only. It is not investment research, nor is it prepared in accordance with legal requirements designed to promote the independence of investment research, and it must not be construed as a recommendation or solicitation to buy or sell any financial instrument. Any opinions expressed are those of the author at the time of writing and are subject to change without notice.

9. Your decisions, your responsibility

All trading and investment decisions you make are solely your responsibility. COT-Reports.com, its operator and any third parties involved in producing this site accept no liability for losses, missed gains or other damages arising directly or indirectly from the use of information on the site.

10. Consult a qualified professional

If you are unsure whether trading a particular instrument is appropriate for your financial situation, please consult a qualified, licensed financial adviser, tax adviser or legal professional in your jurisdiction before proceeding.

11. Affiliate and Introducing Broker disclosure

COT-Reports.com participates in affiliate and Introducing Broker programs with several trading partners, including but not limited to Ultima Markets (broker) and the prop trading firms listed on our /prop-firms page. When you register with any of these partners through our links, we may receive a commission. This does not change the price you pay or the terms of any offer, and it does not influence the order in which partners are listed. We only partner with firms whose services we are willing to describe on their own merits. Any statements about partner offers, rules, fees or conditions reflect information available to us at the time of writing and may be superseded by the partner’s own official terms. Before signing up with any broker or prop firm through our site, read their complete terms of service and risk disclosures.

12. CFD and leveraged derivatives risk

Contracts for Difference (CFDs), spot forex, and other leveraged derivatives are complex instruments that come with a high risk of losing money rapidly due to leverage. A significant majority of retail investor accounts — typically between 70% and 89% according to ESMA-regulated broker disclosures — lose money when trading CFDs. You should consider whether you understand how leveraged products work and whether you can afford to take the high risk of losing your money before opening any CFD account. Leverage magnifies both gains and losses, and it is possible to lose more than the amount originally deposited.

13. Prop firm evaluation risk

Proprietary trading firm challenges and evaluation accounts require you to pay a non-refundable fee upfront in exchange for a demo or simulated trading environment. Passing the evaluation — where required — unlocks a funded trading phase, but most participants do not reach funding. You may lose the entire evaluation fee without ever trading live capital. Rules on drawdown, consistency, minimum trading days, position sizing, news trading, holding overnight and payout thresholds vary widely between firms and are set by each firm independently. Profit-split percentages are promises by the firm, not regulatory guarantees. Before buying any prop firm challenge, read the firm’s full rulebook, payout terms, and refund policy carefully. If you are not comfortable losing the full evaluation fee, do not buy.
