Terms of Service

These Terms of Service govern your use of COT-Reports.com. By visiting the site you accept these terms. Please read them carefully — they explain what we provide, what you agree to and what we cannot be held responsible for.

Last updated: 2026-05-17

1. Acceptance

By accessing or using COT-Reports.com you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and by our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

2. What we provide

COT-Reports publishes the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) Commitments of Traders reports in several formats, along with a position size calculator, an economic calendar and a CFTC release schedule. We also maintain a Brokers section and a Prop Firms comparison page where we list trading partners we have an affiliate or Introducing Broker relationship with — the offers on these pages are provided by the partners themselves. The service is currently free to use. We reserve the right to add, modify or remove features at any time.

3. Intended audience

COT-Reports.com is intended exclusively for users aged 18 or over. The information on the site is directed at individuals capable of making informed decisions about financial markets. If you are under 18, please do not use this site.

4. License to use

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to access and view the content on COT-Reports.com for personal, non-commercial use. You may share screenshots and link to our pages freely. Redistribution of large datasets, commercial mirroring of the site, and automated scraping outside our published embed widgets are not permitted.

5. User obligations

You agree not to (a) attempt to disrupt the site or overload our servers, (b) bypass technical protections, (c) reverse engineer or copy our source code, (d) use the site for illegal activity, or (e) misrepresent yourself as COT-Reports. Violation may result in access being blocked.

6. Data accuracy

We publish data from official government sources and make reasonable efforts to keep everything accurate and up to date. However we do not guarantee that every number is free of errors or omissions, nor that any data point will be available without interruption. Always verify critical information against the original source (e.g. cftc.gov) before acting on it.

7. Limitation of liability

COT-Reports.com is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. Nothing on the site is investment advice. We are not responsible for any trading losses, missed opportunities or other damages arising from your use of the information on this site. Your trading decisions are your own responsibility. See our Risk Disclosure for details.

8. Termination

We may suspend or block access to the site, in whole or in part, at any time, for any reason — in particular if you violate these Terms. You may stop using the site at any time.

9. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the law applicable to the operator of COT-Reports.com. Any dispute that cannot be resolved amicably will be submitted to the courts having jurisdiction over the operator. EU consumer protection laws remain available to you regardless.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Any material change will be signaled by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the site after changes means you accept the updated terms.

11. Third-party services and affiliate links

The Brokers and Prop Firms sections contain affiliate links. When you click one and register with a partner, you enter a separate contractual relationship with that partner — their terms, fees, rules, account decisions and complaint handling are their responsibility, not ours. COT-Reports earns a commission when you register through these links, at no additional cost to you. This does not change the price or the terms of the offer presented on our site. Bonus amounts, eligibility criteria, regional restrictions and payout rules are set and controlled by the partner, not by us. We make reasonable efforts to keep information accurate, but any discrepancy between what we display and the partner’s current terms is resolved in favour of the partner’s official terms.

12. Newsletter & Communications

We send two optional marketing emails — a weekly COT recap and extreme positioning alerts. You can subscribe from the newsletter form on the site, or, when you register a free account, by ticking the consent box at sign-up; that box is unticked by default and we never enrol a free account automatically. If you buy a product or subscription, we may send you these same updates as our customer under the 'soft opt-in' permitted by e-privacy law, and we tell you so at the time of purchase. Every marketing email carries a one-click unsubscribe link, and you can turn these emails on or off at any time under Email alerts in your account settings. Transactional emails tied to your account (purchase receipts, password resets, security alerts) are sent regardless, because they are necessary to operate the service.

13. EU online dispute resolution

The European Commission provides a platform for online dispute resolution at https://ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr. We are not obliged or willing to participate in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board. Any complaint can be raised directly with us at contact@cot-reports.com — we will respond in good faith and within a reasonable time.

15. COT Data API — acceptable use

Subscriptions to the COT Data API are subject to the rate limits published in our API reference at /api-docs (currently 60 requests per minute and 500 per day on the entry tier). The API token issued to your subscription is for your use only — sharing the token across users, accounts or unrelated systems is not permitted, and we reserve the right to revoke any token whose usage pattern indicates distribution. Mass scraping with the goal of recreating the COT Data Dump or any equivalent bulk export from the API endpoints is forbidden — buy the Data Dump if that is your need. Rate-limit circumvention (rotating IP addresses, parallel tokens hitting the same endpoint to multiply throughput, automation of the demo endpoint at scale) is a Terms violation and a basis for immediate termination of all tokens. The CFTC data itself is U.S. federal public domain (17 USC §105) and you may freely build paid products on top of query results, redistribute query results, or feed them into any model; the restrictions in this section apply to the API service, not to the underlying data semantics. Cancellation in the Stripe Customer Portal revokes your token within seconds; the rest of your billed period is yours for any other entitlement but the API itself stops on the next request.
