Add one address to your AI assistant and ask about the Commitments of Traders in plain language. It reads the latest CFTC report for all +380 markets from COT-Reports and cites the report date and the page.
https://mcp.cot-reports.comWhat are large speculators doing in gold this week?
Your assistant calls COT-Reports, reads the latest CFTC report for gold — long, short and net position of every trader group, the weekly change — and answers with the report date and a link to the page.
The COT-Reports MCP server connects AI assistants such as ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor and VS Code to the weekly CFTC Commitments of Traders data through the Model Context Protocol (MCP). Add https://mcp.cot-reports.com as a connector and ask in plain language: the positions of speculators and hedgers, weekly changes and open interest for all +380 markets. Without an account the assistant reads the latest report of every market; a COT Data API key adds the full history and every report family. Connecting a free account (the last 4 reports) or COT Premium (everything) from your AI app is coming soon.
One address works everywhere, with no account: the latest report of every market. Connecting your COT-Reports account from your AI app — a free account for the last 4 reports, COT Premium for everything — is coming soon; a COT Data API key already works in apps that accept a header.
Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector. Name it COT-Reports and paste https://mcp.cot-reports.com. Available on every Claude plan (the Free plan allows one custom connector).
Settings → Apps → Advanced settings → turn on Developer mode, then create an app with the address https://mcp.cot-reports.com. Available on ChatGPT Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise and Edu.
Run this in your terminal — that is all: the latest report of every market, no account needed.

What are large speculators doing in gold this week?
The assistant calls get_latest_positions for gold and answers with the long, short and net position of every trader group in the latest CFTC report, the change since last week and the share of open interest — with the report date and a link to the gold page on COT-Reports.
Give me this week's COT overview of the currency futures.
It calls get_latest_snapshot for the currencies category: the net position of speculators and commercials in every currency future, their weekly change and the open interest, in one answer.
Which markets have the most crowded speculator positioning right now?
It calls scan_extremes. With COT Premium you get the list — each market with its 26-, 52- and 156-week percentiles; on the other plans the assistant tells you how many markets are crowded long and short.
Every market is open at every level. The levels differ by history depth, report families and the analysis tools.

Every answer carries the CFTC report date and a link to the matching COT-Reports page. Fair-use limits apply per account and per key.
MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard that lets AI assistants use outside services. With the COT-Reports MCP server, your assistant reads the CFTC Commitments of Traders data from COT-Reports instead of guessing from the web.
Yes: without an account the assistant reads the latest report of all +380 markets. Free accounts (the last 4 reports) and COT Premium (the full history, every report family, the COT index, positioning extremes and close prices) are coming soon to the MCP server; a COT Data API key already adds the full history and every report family.
Any app that supports remote MCP servers over HTTP: Claude (web, desktop and mobile), ChatGPT with Developer mode, Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code with GitHub Copilot, Windsurf, Gemini CLI and others.
The same data as the website: the CFTC publishes the report every Friday at 3:30 pm US Eastern, and COT-Reports updates within minutes. Every answer names the report date.
Soon. For now the server answers without an account. When accounts arrive, your AI app will ask you once to connect your COT-Reports account; the app will only read COT data at your plan's level, and you will be able to disconnect it at any time.
Yes. Apps that accept a header (Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code…) can send your key as a Bearer token: every market and report family in raw form, on the same quota as the REST API. The COT index, positioning extremes and close prices are part of COT Premium.
